Online Retail Company Takes Precautions for Customers

Online Retail Company Takes Precautions for Customers

Today you can purchase just about anything online but some people still choose to speak to a real person in order to purchase their wants and needs. This is very common for companies with regular account holders or an older customer base as is the case for Flags.com.

Flags.com is an online retailer of flag and flagpole related products. A simple mother-daughter run company, they've seen first hand the damage identity theft can cause. "We've had a few disputes in our day. Often a person can steal credit card information just by hacking into your phone calls. Without even missing your call you can be missing thousands of dollars.", says Patricia Dale. "It is in deed very possible for you to place an order over your cell phone while someone is listening, acquiring all the top secret information about your account that you need to identify yourself.", Allana Dale explains. As the state government of Alabama recommends, if you absolutely must give your credit card information over a cell phone, make sure that you are away from other people and very quiet about it.

Flags.com, starting on December 1st, 2007, will be taking extra precautions for their customers. "Just in case our customers have not read this or another site explaining the hazards of cell phone security, we will start asking our customers if they are calling from a cell phone when placing an order. We want to warn them of the risks before they start spouting out numbers", says Allana. When asking about the potential of losing customers she told us, "It is completely up to them if they want to heed our warning or not. We will just give them the choice to call back from a land line. If they don't call back, of course that is bad, but we've always taken pride in knowing that we do what is best for our customers."

So if you are planning in placing an order with Flags.com in the future, don't be suprised to hear "Are you calling from your cell phone?"
